While it takes a fairly broad background in mathematics to appreciate the book, one does not need to be a specialist in algebraic number theory to follow Singh's historical development of the progress toward final solution.The description of Wiles' attempt to keep his work secret, and of the inadequacy of his first attempt at proof, reads like a first-rate cliffhanger. I love this workbook! Exactly what I have been looking for. If this is your textbook for your class then don't fret, it will do fine.. Yes, it is a set of graphic organizers, but these are great starting points for class discussions, historical writing development, critical thinking, etc. The author has a web site with videos presenting the content of the book, and it's helpful to use the videos along with the book.On the plus side - if you want to cover a lot of mathematical proofs starting from the beginning, this is an excellent book. Live the Art is a fantastic insight into the evolution of Jeff Deitch's artistic sensibility. If you pay close attention he does link everything up. We meet the Curies, Thomson, Szilard, Oppenheimer, Fermi, Zachariesen, Heisenberg, Edward Teller and the list goes on.
